On Thursday, July 8th 2021, CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF) announced their festival lineup for their 16th edition this year and we can finally reveal that BECOMING A QUEEN will be the opening night film! This will be the film’s homecoming as CTFF takes place in Toronto between September 8th and 24th.
As stated on their website, “CTFF celebrates the talents of established and emerging filmmakers of Caribbean and African heritage who practice their art across the Caribbean Diaspora worldwide….CTFF presents a multi-ethnic mix of exciting and dynamic films that showcase diverse and shared stories as well as cultures.”
It was already an incredible honour just to be announced in the festival. However, when it was decided our film would be the opening night film myself and everyone involved were extremely excited and joyful.
The screening will be virtual and will also include a Q&A hosted by Nneka Elliott, featuring myself, members of the production team and a few of our on-camera subjects. Festival passes can be purchased here.
This will be the Canadian premiere for QUEEN and is the second festival appearance after debuting in Boston at The Roxbury International Film Festival back in June.
